• In the 2020s, a new, additional why in the U.S. is privacy and data security compliance. New U.S. state laws require data minimization, storage limitation, and retention/destruction practices for personal and protected data … and judging from recent civil enforcement cases and settlements, the regulators and courts appear to be quite serious about this.
