This is an introductory course for our US audience.
The All You Need to Know course will cover the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including the principles, legal basis, accountability and individual rights. Our interactive sessions cover personal and special category information, Data Protection Impact Assessments, Data Breach Management with an added focus on the regulation’s territorial extent, so as a US organization, you can work out its applicability and impact to your operations, and manage your opportunity and risks accordingly. In this course, we give you knowledge of the basic principles and fundamentals that you know where to look, or how to find your path through the tangled web of laws and regulations that we find our organizations having to respond to. We discuss whether legal “compliance” is even possible to Data Protection law principles, and if not, how risk-based decision making and accountability takes its place within managing an ongoing privacy program, rather than a single point in time legal compliance assessment. We use a practical workbook you can use after you leave the course, and encourage you to create an action plan for your next steps after the training.Learning Objectives: -Understand the GDPR and associated legal frameworks.-Learn about Controller and Data Processor, the relationships and relevant compliance obligations with the law.-Learn about territorial extent.-Learn about the methods for international data transfers.-Understand the role of the Supervisory Authorities as the Regulators-Complete scenarios and exercises covering course topics.
