This session will cover historical and current drivers for IG best practices, including hot legal and business issues driving the changes. The session begins with historical drivers, followed by discussions of real-world concerns for IG professionals including uncontrolled data, privacy, data security and the newest concern, the role of artificial intelligence.
Case Studies:
Approaches to IG Program Development: This session focuses on determination factors of whether to apply the ARMA Principles or the IG Implementation Model to assess current state at an organization. The legal answer is: It depends! The session will conclude with a law firm case study and lessons learned from the exercise. Topics covered include key drivers, the role of the assessment models (i.e., The Principles vs. IG Implementation Model), a law firm case study, how to tackle assessment results, and common obstacles, outcomes and opportunities for growth.
Keynote Session - Privacy in Nebraska and the World Presented by Richard Jeffries Nebraska has joined the growing list of stated enacting data privacy laws. Rick Jeffries will explain what this law means for businesses, how it compares to other data privacy laws and what organizations need to do to stay compliant. Case Studies - Success Factors This session focuses on the positive side of results from case studies in the financial sector (an investment advisory firm and a bank), including key success factors. Topics covered include first lines of defense, key success factors, and positive outcomes.
Wrap-Up and Open Discussion - Ask a Lawyer! The last 45 minutes of the day will be devoted to an open dialogue with the audience and the presenter.
